Summary

Sensitively edited and with a connecting commentary by editor, Mirjam Pressler, the abridged edition of The Diary of Anne Frank gives younger readers their first introduction to the extraordinary diary of an ordinary girl who has long become a household name。
In July 1942, 13-year-old Anne Frank and her family hide from the Nazis in an Amsterdam warehouse。 Over the next two years, Anne describes in her diary the day-to-day life in the house and confides her innermost thoughts and feelings。
This abridged edition has a short prologue written by the editor, Mirjam Pressler, as well as a connecting commentary。 There are beautiful line drawings, lots of family photographs, and an Afterword to explain why the Diary ends so abruptly。 This shorter edition is ideal for younger children who want to read Anne's diary for themselves。

I was really saddened by their death。 I can't imagine how Otto Frank must have felt。 But I am really happy that her diary was published to fulfill her dream of being a writer。 I was really saddened by their death。 I can't imagine how Otto Frank must have felt。 But I am really happy that her diary was published to fulfill her dream of being a writer。 。。。more

Masterpiece。 That is the only word to describe this。 Not only was this diary a lot more personal then what I normally read but it told a story of a young girl going through something that I couldn’t even imagine going through。 Overall this book deserves 5 stars。 It was absolutely magnificent。

I wish I had read this as a teen。 I think it should be on the national curriculum。 Remarkable, and not at all what I was expecting。

I am definitely late for this book, but i am happy that this was in my reading list。 The diary of a young girl, contains the actual life events of a teenage girl, Anne Frank, who is in hiding with her family, Mr and Mrs Van Dans, Peter, and Mr Dussel。 Set in the time of world war 2, this book (diary) has outlined the struggles of living in the secret Annex and will give you an idea about the life of jews during that era。 I was relieved to read that, even in those hard times Anne has her moment o I am definitely late for this book, but i am happy that this was in my reading list。 The diary of a young girl, contains the actual life events of a teenage girl, Anne Frank, who is in hiding with her family, Mr and Mrs Van Dans, Peter, and Mr Dussel。 Set in the time of world war 2, this book (diary) has outlined the struggles of living in the secret Annex and will give you an idea about the life of jews during that era。 I was relieved to read that, even in those hard times Anne has her moment of happiness, she continued her hobby of writing and developed some new interests in the annex, and more importantly found Peter。 It was her passion of writing, that introduces us with her world。 It is sad to know that she didn't get to live the life, she has planned for herself。 While reading the end part of this book, i wanted to know the author or novelist Anne Frank, I wanted to send her of to Paris, and all the places she wanted to go。 If only she was born in some other time, she would have met different ending。 It is not just her, but all the Jews, who couldn't survive the tortures of Hitler's concentrations camp and were killed by Nazi's army。 。。。more

The diary has inspiring parts , where it makes the reader wonder and rethink stuff (s)he takes for granted。 The first half of the book felt a bit mundane (to me)。 But afterwards , the book gets really interesting, especially on the last third。 It’s this phase of Anne’s life , where she starts to express herself more freely and show deep sides of her。 It’s when her mindset really shifts and gets mature。

Very very impressive。 This book is a must everyone, but especially when you are around the age of Anne Frank when she wrote this。 The book provides another view on the live we now have as teenagers compared to what kind of youth Anne had。This is a book that I am for sure going to read for a second in the coming years。

No Doubt, one of the best books I've read so far。 Anne gives us a very detailed expression of her time spent in hiding。 Her writing style is very humorous and thought-provoking。 It's one of those books that you never want to end but we have to face the sad reality, as the quote goes "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened。" No Doubt, one of the best books I've read so far。 Anne gives us a very detailed expression of her time spent in hiding。 Her writing style is very humorous and thought-provoking。 It's one of those books that you never want to end but we have to face the sad reality, as the quote goes "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened。" 。。。more

When getting closer to the end of Anne's diary, you can't help but put it down。 It is such an overwhelming feeling of dread & sadness。 Not just because she has been spending 2 years in the "secret annexe" with 7 other people but because they are all waiting, with hope, for the war to end。 And we, as the audience, know that it does not end well for them。 I encourage you to keep reading when you want to put it away。。。 Her story is one that will keep us all looking forward to another day。 When getting closer to the end of Anne's diary, you can't help but put it down。 It is such an overwhelming feeling of dread & sadness。 Not just because she has been spending 2 years in the "secret annexe" with 7 other people but because they are all waiting, with hope, for the war to end。 And we, as the audience, know that it does not end well for them。 I encourage you to keep reading when you want to put it away。。。 Her story is one that will keep us all looking forward to another day。 。。。more

It's gonna break your heart at the end you know! When you will know the aftermath。 What happened to her and her family after the last page of her diary is the most heartbreaking thing I have ever faced。 And it hurts most because it's true。 It's not a fiction。 Whoever judging this book with a negative mindset and naive attitude towards this book you have to take care of some important points1。 This is not a book written for Pulitzer prize, but a journal of daily life。2。 Written by a 14 years old It's gonna break your heart at the end you know!

What an amazing novel Anne Frank's diary ended up being! I read the book in high school, which was 45 years ago。 I can honestly say I was just as captivated with it the second time around。 I was truly amazed at what the eight individuals endured during their time in hiding and how the non-Jewish people in their lives helped them survive。 What an amazing novel Anne Frank's diary ended up being! Reading this beautiful book you get to learn so much from a young girlWould recommend to history buffs。 Reading this book is recommended cause you see the misery of certain community due to radicalized thoughts of another。
